Memorial Park Playground in Grass Valley

Memorial Park Playground in Grass Valley

Looking for things for your kids to do in Grass Valley?  Well while we still have the nice summer temperatures and the relatively long days get rid of some of their energy at the excellent playground in Memorial Park.  Tucked away next to the car park this playground features two large climbing structures, one for smaller children and one for larger children, a swing set, and some assorted play structures.  All of these are set on a bed of wood chips to catch any falling children.  The whole playground is surrounded by a fence to keep the kids from straying.

It’s a nice quiet area of Grass Valley, although in the winter months it can get chilly when the sun is low on the horizon and behind the trees.  Those of us who need a quick coffee fix in the afternoon are not far from Summer Thymes on the corner of the Colfax Highway.

Halloween Safe Trick or Treat

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

On Halloween, October 31, the Grass Valley Downtown Association will host the Safe Trick or Treat for pre-school children from 10 am to 1 pm.

Dress up your toddler/young child and head to Historic Downtown Grass Valley! Both Mill and Main Streets will be closed to motorized traffic. Merchants will decorate their shops, dress in costume and pass out treats to the little ones.

Other fun and safe places to take your kids trick or treating in the evening include: Cypress Hill, Morgan Ranch, and Race Street. These Grass Valley neighborhoods have street lights, well lit walking areas, and lots of families who love trick or treaters!

For other events in Grass Valley and the surrounding area, see the Nevada County Events page on thisisnevadacounty.com.

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Ok, so it’s not a real zoo, but judging by the oohs and aaahs I hear when i walk around Muttley’s Pet Emporium it might as well be.  The other day i heard a child shouting Nemo and Dorie over and over, saw a child transfixed by the large eel in a tank, and witnessed another child asking his parents if he could put his hand in the tank with the ray (the parents seemed horrified by the prospect).
