Volunteers needed for the 15th Annual Yuba River Cleanup.
- 9:00am to noon, cleanup and restoration
- noon to 3:30pm, volunteer appreciation celebration
Confirmed by a visit on Memorial Day, the South Yuba River State Park, Bridgeport parking area is now a fee area. $5 per car, and parking on the road is no longer permitted.
The car park next to the visitor center was full at about noon, but it felt like there were fewer people on the beach downstream from the bridge. In past years lots of people have parked on the road and the beach has been packed!
Remember, if you are heading down to Bridgeport, you’ll need $5!
The sign is up, loosely hidden with a black plastic bag, and the metal box for posting payment envelopes has been installed.
The sign itself is incomplete with some details missing, like how much it will be to park at Bridgeport, in the South Yuba River State Park.
No parking signs have been erected all along the road, so the advent of parking fees at this popular tourist attraction and swimming hole are imminent.
Don’t be surprised if next time you go to Bridgeport you find that parking is not as easy as it used to be (cars used to line the road when the parking lot was full) and that if you find a parking space, you have to pay for your visit.
